Strong foundation

We continue to seek energy growth based on a sound strategy and a solid financial foundation. With a balance among diversified energy operations and a lower risk profile, our corporate development strategy emphasizes the importance of long-term contracts with credit-worthy counterparties, limited exposure to commodity market volatility and a geographic concentration in the West. Over time, we expect to advance our agenda by investing in:

  • power generation, especially baseload coal-fired plants that utilize our low-sulfur, economical coal;
  • natural gas reserves, because we believe gas will be the national fuel of choice for many years to come;
  • energy marketing customer services, which can earn strong returns and sharpen our market knowledge to our overall competitive advantage;
  • midstream assets, such as gathering systems, pipelines and storage, which integrate our marketing and production functions.

We are bullish on our growth prospects because of our proven operational capabilities and our optimism for long-term economic growth and increased energy demand.
