Automated Meter Reading
Automated meter reading allows Black Hills Energy to read natural gas meters via a radio signal sent to a passing company vehicle from the natural gas meter on your property. Our company has been using AMR to read natural gas meters since the late 1980s.
Besides being a more efficient way to read meters, the benefits of automated meter reading include:
- Increased meter reading accuracy through the elimination of estimated meter readings.
- Increased billing accuracy for those no longer receiving an estimated bill.
- Customer convenience because AMR eliminates the need for service personnel to access customers’ property monthly to read meters; indoor meters can also be read remotely with AMR.
