New Look! Changes to your utility bill coming soon.

Your bill is getting a makeover! This fall, you will see improvements to your utility bill. Your bill has been redesigned to provide you with as much or as little detail as you want. The front page of your bill shows easy-to-read summary of charges, a graph charting energy use over a 13-month period, helpful bill analysis information, and important information about your account. The detail page of the bill provides all of the information you need to understand what makes up the charges on your bill.

1. Contact our Customer Service via phone or email, call if you need to report an emergency, or visit our website for useful information about our services.
2. This is your Black Hills Energy account number, your name, and date the bill was mailed.
3. Payments should be made on or before the due date.
4. This is the amount owed on your account, including any past due charges. If you are enrolled in our Automatic Bank Transfer plan, this is the amount and date your payment will be automatically made for you.
5. A graph shows current and historical usage for the past 13 months. Information in this area helps compare several factors that might influence your energy use - it includes your average use per day and cost per day for this month, last month and last year.
6. The account summary includes payments received, past due charges, current month utility or other charges, any fees or adjustments, and the total amount due for this bill.
7. Important information about your account will appear in this area.
8. If paying by mail, please return the payment slip with your monthly payment.
9. Black Hills Cares helps eligible customers meet their energy needs through tax-deductible donations from our customers and employees. Black Hills Energy matches contributions and forwards the total to assistance agencies for distribution. Just mark the appropriate amount to enroll in an automatic monthly contribution.

10. Detailed usage information for each service on your account, including billing rate, meter number, meter readings and dates, if meter readings were estimated, and total energy usage for the billing period is located in this area.
11. All charges for your service are itemized for your energy usage, and applicable taxes for the billing period are located here.
12. This area contains detailed information about any financial transactions affecting your account, including payments made since your last bill, fees and adjustments, utility budget balance, deposits billed, payment arrangements, or energy assistance. A summary of any applicable transactions is also on the front of your bill.
13. This area contains special information about your account and general messages of interest.
