Welcome to Black Hill's solar web site, a comprehensive resource intended to provide you with all the information and forms necessary to participate in Black Hills's Colorado solar program, as well as links to solar industry groups and other helpful information.
30 percent of Black Hills' generation must come from renewable energy resources by year 2020 to meet the Colorado Renewable Energy Standard. A portion of that amount must come from renewable distributed generation resources. To encourage the use of solar energy as a distributed generation resource, Black Hills Energy is offering an incentive program that consists of a rebate and production based incentive (PBI) to help cover a portion of the cost of investing in solar photovoltaic (PV) systems.
Black Hills's program provides a two-part incentive to qualifying customers:
PV systems may be installed by any Colorado electric customer of Black Hills. Requirements and incentives differ according to the size the of the PV system. Smaller business and residential customers may want to consider a PV system up to 10 kilowatts. Larger customers may want to consider a system greater than 10 kilowatts, up to as much as 100 kilowatts.
In addition to Black Hills' incentives, federal tax credits are available for businesses and homeowners.
To get started, Black Hills strongly recommends that you contact at least two qualified PV installation contractors. They will help you decide the size and type of system that will best meet your needs.

Black Hills is offering its Colorado electric customers incentives for installing photovoltaic (PV) solar power systems. PV systems use panels that convert sunlight into electricity. Electricity from PV systems reduces the need to burn fossil fuels, such as coal, oil and natural gas, and helps to reduce air pollution.
