We filed a request with the Kansas Corporation Commission to recover the more than $50 million in necessary investments we’ve made in our natural gas system over the past seven years.
The Kansas Corporation Commission and its staff will thoroughly review the rate plans, consider public comments and review testimony from utility representatives and other interested parties. The process can take several months. Learn more about how rates are set.
Why are you raising rates?
Ongoing investments in our natural gas system are necessary to maintain safe, reliable service for our 111,000 natural gas customers in 64 communities across Kansas. Filing a rate increase request with the KCC is the standard process for a public utility to recover those costs and investments.
We own and maintain 4,360 miles of natural gas pipeline in Kansas. Since our previous rate increase in 2007, we have installed or replaced 226 miles of underground mains and installed or replaced 13,000 service lines that connect main pipelines to customer meters.
You will receive a notice with your bill when the filings are available to view on our website. You will also be able to attend a public hearing or submit comments to the KCC regarding our rate application.
