Residential & Small Businesses: Refrigerator/Freezer Pickup Program

The Refrigerator Pickup Program encourages residential or small business customers to turn in old inefficient refrigerators and stand alone freezers.

• Refrigerators/freezers must be between 10 and 30 cubic feet in size
• The refrigerators/freezers must be in working condition
• At time of pickup the unit must be empty and plugged into an electrical outlet
• The appliance must have a clear path for removal
• Refrigerator/freezers using ammonia or SO2 refrigerant are exluded from participation
• Maximum of 2 units per customer per year

The program's goal is to get these inefficient refrigerators off the electric system and dispose of them in an environmentally safe and responsible manner.Black Hills Energy is working with JACO in order to accomplish this goal.

As part of the program, Black Hills Energy will provide eligible customers a $30 rebate per qualifying unit that is turned in.
