Black Hills Energy Efficiency Plan

The Commission in 2010 approved a motion by Black Hills Energy-Kansas Gas to withdraw the Energy Efficiency plan the company filed with the Commission in March of 2010.

Black Hills Energy will continue to further assess the sentiments of KCC staff, the Citizens' Utility Ratepayer Board and our customers toward energy efficiency plans in Kansas, and to pursue additional opportunities for education and input on how such a plan could be implemented successfully.

The KCC previously asked Black Hills Energy-Kansas Gas to devise an energy efficiency plan after the KCC determined that it was in the public's best interest for utilities to develop, implement and manage such a plan. Black Hills Energy continues to agree that as a utility, we are best positioned to develop, implement and manage such a plan. We know our customers' usage patterns and have a long-standing relationship with them. We will continue to communicate with regulators, public advocates and our customers as we work toward an energy efficiency plan that satisfies the needs of everyone involved.
