LINCOLN, Neb. - April 8, 2019 - Natural gas customers in more than 300 communities across the state of Nebraska know their energy provider by the trade name of Black Hills Energy, but the utility is currently operating under two different legal entities in the state of Nebraska.
In late March, Black Hills Energy filed a request with the Nebraska Public Service Commission (PSC) to combine both legal entities by consolidating the assets, liabilities and operations of the two organizations into a single entity.
“This request is another step in our efforts to continue to improve service to our customers across Nebraska,”
“This request is another step in our efforts to continue to improve service to our customers across Nebraska,” said Jeff Sylvester, vice president of Nebraska natural gas operations. “Combining our legal entities will bring all the communities we serve under one set of rules and guidelines. No changes to rates or the Choice Gas program are requested.”
As proposed, the request will only have minimal changes to customers formerly served by SourceGas. If approved by the PSC, the combination of the two legal entities would take effect in January.
