If you’re a “farm tap” customer, you get natural gas from a pipeline that runs on or near your property. We don’t own this pipeline or the line. But we do provide services on farm taps, including an annual meter reading and a refill of the product that gives natural gas its distinctive odor. We also do the billing and provide emergency service and periodic leak surveys.
Please remember that you’re responsible for the safety and condition of the fuel line running from the meter to their facilities. If there are leaks in your fuel line, it could create serious safety issues. You’re also responsible for any costs associated with the natural gas lost from a fuel line leak. So, make sure you know the location and condition of your fuel line and regularly read your meter.
You should also have a qualified professional periodically inspect your fuel line for leaks. If they discover a leak, have a qualified contractor or your local utility make the repairs.
Make sure you use approved installation practices and materials to meet local, state and federal codes. If you don’t follow those codes, we’ll need to disconnect your service until you install approved materials. All of the maintenance and repair costs are your responsibility.
Please make sure to read your own meter each month. If we don’t get your meter read for two consecutive months, we may send an employee to read your meter. There will be a $66 charge for the mileage and labor on your next monthly bill.
To remind you when to read your meter, you’ll get a letter from us each month.
