Funds for Firefighters grant program
Every day, volunteer firefighters step up to protect our communities, often with limited resources but a deep commitment to serving others. Through the Funds for Firefighters grant program, Black Hills Energy helps local departments obtain the equipment, technology and safety gear they need to serve their communities safely and effectively.
Black Hills Energy awards $165,000 to volunteer fire departments in 2026
This year, the Black Hills Corp. Foundation awarded $165,000 through 72 grants to volunteer fire departments serving more than 100 communities across seven states.
Funding supports a variety of needs, including:
- Protective gear
- Rescue equipment
- Communications technology
- Facility improvements
- Other critical resources that help firefighters respond safely and effectively
