Virtual home energy assessment

Our virtual energy assessment is conducted via a secure video streaming tool. A trained energy evaluator will guide you through identifying how your home uses energy.

Eligibility requirements

To qualify, you must:

• Be a Black Hills Energy customer in Iowa
• Have a natural gas water heater and/or heating system
• Live in a home that is at least five years old
• Not have received an energy assessment in the past five years

How do I earn the $50 rebate? 

You’ll receive $25 after installing your energy kit products (virtual option only), and another $25 after installing a recommended upgrade within one year.

What’s the difference between virtual and in-home assessments? 

Virtual assessments are done via video with guidance from an energy expert. In-home assessments include a physical walkthrough and may involve blower door testing and air sealing.

I am physically unable to complete a virtual assessment. Can I still participate?
