Funds for Firefighters

A 2026 special project of the Black Hills Corp. Foundation

The Funds for Firefighters grant program is dedicated to supporting the brave men and women who serve as volunteer firefighters, as well as recognize Black Hills Energy employees who serve as volunteer firefighters. This program aims to provide financial assistance for essential equipment and resources to enhance the safety and effectiveness of firefighting operations in our service territories.

Eligibility: Applicant must be a volunteer fire department serving a Black Hills Energy community.

Grant details:

  • Funding amount: Grants are available for up to $2,500.
  • Use of funds: Eligible requests are limited to firefighting equipment or safety gear.
  • Deadline: Applications must be submitted along with the department’s W-9 by April 10, 2026.

Application process:

  1. Complete the form below: Provide detailed information about your fire department and the specific needs the grant will address.
  2. Include supporting documents: Include any relevant photos of requested item(s). Include the department’s current W-9.
  3. Review and selection: Applications will be reviewed by a panel from your state, and recipients will be notified in mid-May.
