Garden City, Kansas team distributes 300 meals to seniors
Garden City Meals on wheels

Twice a year, the Black Hills Energy team from Garden City, Kansas signs up with Meals on Wheels to deliver a week’s worth of hot, nutritious lunches to home-bound seniors. While it may be the only time each day the recipients receive this kind of attention, Black Hills Energy staff might actually get more out of it.

“I can’t tell you how good it feels to brighten someone’s day,” said Business Development Senior Account Manager, Phil Escareno. “To be in a position to give back makes our whole team feel incredibly lucky. We’re fortunate to have a community that really appreciates our partnership, and we’re equally fortunate our company empowers us to give back.”

A team of seven employees including Jamie Angeles, Salvador Angeles, Dennis Green, Rocky Cornelius, Phil Escareno, Brian Odneal and Luis Carrasco volunteered throughout the week to deliver more than 300 meals in five days. Garden City Meals on Wheels’ mission is to empower seniors to age in place. It serves nearly 100 people in Finney County, Kansas.
