Overview
Work will begin in Auburn to replace bare steel pipes with high density polyethylene which is more resistant to corrosion. This investment is part of our longstanding commitment to provide safe, reliable natural gas service to homes and businesses everywhere we operate.
Work on this project will start in March in a phrased approach, with plans to complete work in November. InfraSource will assist Black Hills Energy with this project. All contractors will carry Black Hills Energy identification and are trained to meet our high quality and service standards.
The project in Auburn will follow our model of successfully completed projects in Nebraska communities including Schuyler, Beatrice, York, Seward, Geneva, Milford, Aurora, Columbus, Norfolk, Wayne and Fairbury.
Black Hills Energy is committed to investing in our infrastructure to meet our goal of reducing methane emissions. Replacing the bare steel natural gas main with new polyethylene piping plays an important role in helping to achieve that goal, and also keeps up with the changing needs of the Auburn community.
Our commitment
- Minimal interruptions in natural gas service to homes and businesses.
- Black Hills Energy will notify customers of any planned interruptions to minimize inconveniences.
- Some streets and alleys may be restricted or closed as work is completed. We will communicate and plan well, cognizant of potential impacts on residents and visitors.
- As we near the end of our work, every effort will be made to restore the work area to its original state.
