Gas Cost Adjustment (GCA) formerly known as the pass-on rate
Find the confirmation code for your division as well as the estimated GCA natural gas commodity price updated daily throughout the Annual Selection Period, by clicking on the link below. The GCA natural gas commodity price option is not available for multi-year term selections.
The Wyoming Public Service Commission has approved a February Extreme Weather (“FEW’) Rate of $0.1226 per therm, on an interim basis, effective September 1, 2021, for a period of three years. The FEW Rate is for the recovery of the significant increase in gas costs related to Storm Uri in February 2021 caused by extremely high demand and production interruptions. Premises where the customer was receiving service under the Regulated GCA option on February 28, 2021 will be subject to payment of the FEW Rate for the duration of the effective period. If these premises subsequently select a Choice Gas Supplier during the FEW Rate effective period, the premises will still be subject to the FEW Rate. Premises where the customer was receiving service under a selected Choice Gas Supplier on February 28, 2021 will not be subject to the FEW Rate for the duration of the effective period. If these premises subsequently select to receive service under the Regulated GCA option during the FEW effective period, the premises will continue to not be subject to the FEW Rate. Additionally, any new premises adding service after February 28, 2021 will not be subject to the FEW Rate for the duration of the effective period.

How it works
Customers may choose their natural gas commodity supplier using the internet, mail, supplier or the rollover option. Active participation in the program is encouraged to allow customers exclusive control of the supplier, natural gas commodity price and the many available natural gas commodity price options such as fixed rate per therm, market index rate, fixed monthly bill, etc. that are available to them.
No matter which natural gas commodity supplier you select, Black Hills Energy will maintain your local natural gas system, read the meters, send bills and answer any questions you have.
If you utilize the rollover option, your account will rollover to your current natural gas commodity supplier and natural gas commodity price option, with your final price determined by the supplier within 15 days after the selection period ends.
The natural gas commodity price a customer paid the previous year does not carry over unless the supplier agrees to do so. Your final rollover price may be different from the prices quoted during the annual selection period.
Multi-year selection option
If you select a multi-year term through your supplier, you’ll know your natural gas commodity price option and natural gas commodity price —not only for the new program year (June-May) — but for future program years as well. When selecting a multi-year term, during the term of that selection, you will not:
- Receive an annual selection packet
- Receive supplier marketing communication
- Be eligible to make another selection
All Choice Gas selections are specific to the service address and are nontransferable to a different service address. Multi-year selection options are customer and service address specific. So, if you move during the term of a multi-year selection, you will be eligible to make a selection at your new service address during the next annual Choice Gas selection period.
For more information about multi-year options, contact any of the Choice Gas participating suppliers. The Gas Cost Adjustment (GCA) natural gas commodity price option is not available for multi-year term selections.

Supplier marketing and customer contact information
The natural gas market can be volatile, with available rates changing frequently during the selection period. To give you timely information so you can make the Choice Gas selection that best suits your needs, participating natural gas commodity suppliers may contact you by phone, text or email to share their individual offerings. We provide all natural gas commodity suppliers with the phone number and email address you may have provided for your Black Hills Energy account.
Although we want you to have the chance to receive this additional information from the natural gas commodity suppliers, we also understand that calls, texts and emails may be burdensome. Each natural gas commodity supplier is limited as to how often they can contact you. If you no longer want to receive these communications from a natural gas commodity supplier, request to be removed from their call list or opt out of email communications. After you’ve completed a successful selection, you shouldn’t receive any further contact from suppliers.
