Black Hills Energy is implementing a new electric rate, the Time-of-Day (TOD) rate, to support EV charging for residential, small business and commercial/industrial customers. This new rate will give customers more control over their electricity use and provide opportunities to save money on their bills through peak and non-peak energy pricing.
Under the Time-of-Day rate, when you use electricity is just as important as the amount used, because the price charged per kilowatt-hour depends on the time of day that electricity is used. Time-of-Day rates give you more control over your energy bill, and can save you money if you are able to shift energy use away from peak hours when power is most costly.

The Time-of-Day rate is a requirement for all customers accepting a Black Hills Energy EV charger rebate, but it’s open to all residential customers who wish to switch their whole house to this rate schedule.

Time-of-Day rates can help make public EV charging more affordable for your business and your customers.
