We’re raising awareness about the positive impacts trees have on our homes, our communities and the environment through our Power of Trees program. The program, which is made possible through a partnership with Trees Forever, funds tree-planting projects throughout the Iowa communities we serve.
This plan is offered to qualified applicants or customers to spread gas service costs over the entire year to balance the seasonal fluctuations in energy use. The terms and conditions of this plan are fully explained below.
Balanced Billing is a free billing option that averages out your monthly energy bills. That way, you can avoid spikes in your bill caused by seasonal energy usage.
Your monthly bill is based on your average usage during the past year, plus a percentage of your full account balance. We’ll recalculate your balanced billing amount every month.

Black Hills Energy is constructing a 6.4 mile long natural gas line south of the City of Dubuque in Dubuque County, Iowa. The natural gas line will start at the Black Hills Energy facility located southeast of the intersection of U.S. Highway 61 and U.S. Highway 151, extend north and west toward the City of Dubuque, and end at another existing Black Hills Energy facility. The natural gas line will be owned, operated and maintained by Black Hills Energy.
