We teamed up with several community partners in Colorado by providing a $13,000 foundation grant and more than $30,000 of in-kind work to help complete a $500,000 renovation project at Rouse Park in Cañon City, Colorado. Elements of the project include upgrading the stadium lights to LEDs, replacing the backstop, adding shade structures and a pavilion. All upgrades will be complete before opening day. Other partners for the project include Fremont County, Cañon City Noon Lions and Tezak Heavy Equipment.
While our combined cash and in-kind contribution was more than $43,000, the value provided by employees far exceeded the contribution. Park and Recreation District Executive Director Kyle Horn estimates that the $30,000 of in-kind work completed by our employees saved the recreation district as much as $70,000 of lighting installation costs because of the skill and expertise provided by our employees that would have otherwise been contracted.
